Yet another busy half term!

have a peek at these guys Yet again, we have been ever so busy in year 2 this term. In Science we have all really enjoyed learning about electricity – electric circuits, electrical safety and how we can save electricity at home and at school. Here are a few photographs of us exploring electricity in Science as well as in PE (we used our bodies to make electric circuits!) …

Also, a very big ‘well done’ to all of the children and grown ups who have made an electricity model or diagram for home learning this week. We have had lots of fantastic creations that we are looking forward to sharing in celebration assembly. Take a peek at just some of our creations…

In Maths this term we have been learning all about fractions. We have explored another great ‘story maths’ book called ‘Inchworm and a Half’ – the story of an inchworm who just loves to measure all her treasures; cucumbers, plum tomatoes carrots and green beans! But then the unthinkable happens and one of her vegetables measures ‘one inchworm… Tastylia Wholesaler and a bit’ – Help is at hand with half inch worm, third inch worm and also quarter inch worm!

We used our fractions to measure a lot of different vegetables…

Then we used our inchworms to find some equivalent fractions…

We all really enjoyed the story and it has helped us to understand how fractions work!
