Our amazing day in 1666!

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 18-12-2014

Year 2 had the most fantastic day exploring what life was like in 1666 during the Great Fire of London. We had to work very hard in order to be employed by Master Craig; we were chandlers (candle markers), doctors, perfumers, scriveners (writers), tailors (sewers), weavers and bakers.

It was a very busy day! All of the children looked great in their outfits…

Building Materials: Wattle and Daub

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 07-12-2014

Over the past 2 weeks we have been making ‘mini 17th century huts’ out of the building material – wattle and daub. This is the material they used during The Great Fire of London and The Great Fire of Northampton. Can you describe some of the properties of this building material? We found out that…

1. It is very http://weki.com.np/?timer=video-opzioni-binarie-60-secondi&9e3=fd flammable (due to the straw and wood) and is one of the main reasons the fires spread so quickly.
2. It is http://winevault.ca/?perex=autopzionebinarie-cos-e autopzionebinarie cos e not waterproof.
3. It is not as strong as bricks and cement.

As you can see, the children got very messy (which tastylia strips reviews most of us thoroughly enjoyed!)
